The 2VM4-8/401 compressor is used to compress air to a pressure of 401 kg/cm2 and supply it as an energy carrier. The 2VM4-8/401 piston compressor is indispensable for creating extreme compression pressures. The capacity of the compressor unit is 8 m2/min. Compressor 2VM4-8/401 – piston, opposed, stationary, crosshead. It has a cast-iron box-shaped frame with internal reinforcement ribs. The frame in the upper part has technological hatches for maintenance and repair of mechanisms. The drive two-speed electric motor is integrated into the frame. The compressor has two cylinders, each with three compression stages. The cylinders of the first two stages are cast iron, the cylinders of the subsequent stages have replaceable sleeves made of cast iron or chrome steel.

The compressor unit 2VM4-8/401 is lubricated by two independent systems:

• low-pressure lubrication system for the lubrication of movement mechanisms. The lower part of the frame acts as an oil reservoir in this system, from where the oil is supplied to the mechanism lubrication system by a gear pump.
• high-pressure lubrication system for cylinder lubrication. The oil reservoir is a lubricator, from where the oil is fed to the cylinders by a multi-plunger pump.
